Through your contract with LexisNexis, you have access to over 9,600 news sources. These sources can be found on www.nexis.com by going to Power Search, Find More Sources, in the News folder. On www.lexis.com, the News folder is found on the main Search screen under the News & Business tab.
General News Groupings:
Today’s News (News Folder / Today’s News)
The Today group file contains same day news only for daily, English language news sources that are available online by 5pm EST the
day they are published (does not include archival material). Click here for a list of these sources.
News Group Files (News Folder / News Group File,…)
There are several News Group Files, the difference between them being the time period each source covers (most recent 60 days, 90 days, two years, etc). These groupings cover all English language full-text news sources on LexisNexis. Click here for a list of these sources.
Magazine Stories, Combined (News Folder / Magazine Stories, Combined)
The Magazines group file contains all magazines from the New Group File, All source. Click here for a list of these magazines.
Major Newspapers (News Folder / Major Newspapers)
To be included in the Major Newspapers group file, United States newspapers must be listed in the top 50 circulation in Editor & Publisher Year Book. Newspapers published outside the United States must be in the English language and listed as a national newspaper in Benn's World Media Directory or one of the top 5% in circulation for the country. The Newspapers group file contains all newspapers from the News Group File, All source. Click here for a list of these papers.
Transcripts (News Folder / Transcripts)
The Transcripts group file contains all transcripts from the News Group File, All source. Click here for a list of these transcripts.
Web Publications, Combined (News Folder / Web Publications Combined)
The WEB Publications group file contains all Internet Based Publications from the News Group File, All source. Click here for a list of these publications.
Wire Service Stories (News Folder / Wire Service Stories)
The Wire services group file contains all newswires from the News Group File, All source. Click here for a list of these wires.
US News, Combined (News Folder / US News, Combined)
The US News, Combined group file contains newspapers published in the United States and wire services where more than 60% of the stories originate in the United States. Click here for a list of these sources.
Non-US News (News Folder / Non-US News)
The Non-US News group file contains English language newspapers published outside of the United States and English language wire services where more than 60% of the stories originate outside of the United States. Click here for a list of these sources.
Individual News Sources (News Folder / By Individual Publication)
All complete full-text news sources on LexisNexis are individually searchable, or may be combined into unique groupings by the end user.
Topical News Groupings (News Folder / By Industry & Topic)
The News sources in the “By Industry & Topic” folder within the News Folder are news materials grouped together according to the topics or issues each publication covers. Within each folder is a grouping that contains every source in that particular folder (e.g. the Aerospace, Defense & Aviation stories file within the Defense & Aerospace folder). Also, each publication is listed alphabetically for individual or customizable selection.

News Sources in Other Languages (News Folder / By Language)
News sources in languages other than English are filed into a separate folder. Each language’s folder contains a grouping of all the sources within that folder, and also provides each publication for individual selection. There are currently 7 languages represented on LexisNexis: Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
News Groupings By Country & Region (News Folder / By Country & Region)
News sources on LexisNexis are also grouped together by country or region of the world from which they originate. The groupings can be large groupings like Asia Pacific or Europe, or smaller groupings according to each specific country. The United States folder groups together all US papers and wires by Region (Northeast, Southeast, Western region) and also by State.
