WASHINGTON, DC, July 31, 2006 - LexisNexis® Risk Management, a leading provider of legal, news, business information and risk management services, today announced the launch of LexisNexis® Investigative Solutions to enable investigators to effectively locate suspects, find missing children, and share information by synthesizing and providing instant access to critical information that would normally take days to gather using traditional investigative methods.

LexisNexis Investigative Solutions extend the capabilities of Accurint®, the industry-leading LexisNexis product suite for investigation and location, to deliver a robust and comprehensive set of enterprise and hosted solutions for complex investigations in support of specific law enforcement and homeland security missions.

  • Solutions for Fusion Centers include on-premise data fusion and analytics as well as enhanced visualization technology for mapping and link analysis.
  • Advanced Search and Analysis provides search and geo-spatial presentation tailored for specific law enforcement challenges, such as rapidly locating fugitives and sexual predators.
  • Solutions for Information Sharing leverage policy-based technology and architectures to facilitate entity resolution and cross-jurisdictional information sharing and collaboration.

"The criminal threats faced by our society today require that law enforcement have rapid access to relevant and meaningful information," said Norm Willox, CEO of LexisNexis Special Services Inc. "We are committed to continuing to invest in leading-edge investigative technologies and the development of innovative solutions that will help our law enforcement customers effectively fight crime and protect our children from violent predators."

LexisNexis has been working closely with the law enforcement community for years and engages closely with its senior leaders through advisory boards, focus groups and policy conferences to better understand the challenges they face in tackling difficult crime problems. In addition, many members of the LexisNexis Risk Management team have extensive law enforcement backgrounds. "LexisNexis provides law enforcement investigators with powerful technology that can dramatically compress the amount of time it takes to conduct complex investigations by bringing together critical information with easy-to-use analytical tools," said Tim Moore, former Commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. "This information has always been accessible to law enforcement, but what is so revolutionary about LexisNexis Investigative Solutions is that they enable law enforcement to fuse and link the data together and uncover crucial leads at speeds that were previously inconceivable."

The proven investigative technology, which is currently used by more than 6,000 law enforcement and government organizations across the country, is the same technology being used by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children®(NCMEC) to assist law enforcement in missing and sexually exploited children investigations. NCMEC estimates that LexisNexis solutions were instrumental in assisting in the successful recovery of 64 missing children in 2005 and that the total number of successful recoveries LexisNexis solutions have been instrumental in since the company began donating its services to NCMEC in 2001 currently stands at 233.
