WASHINGTON, DC, June 26, 2006 - LexisNexis U.S., a leading provider of information solutions and services, today announced the launch of its Intelligence Analysis Solutions to enable analysts in the intelligence community to pinpoint and identify relevant information contained within massive volumes of disparate data.

LexisNexis® Intelligence Analysis Solutions provide customers with intelligence and national security missions with massively scalable and powerful technology that rapidly refines, processes, links and analyzes vast streams of disparate structured and unstructured data. Key applications of Intelligence Analysis Solutions include:

  • Open Source Analysis to enable analysts to pinpoint specific threat information contained within disparate, multi-sourced data sets such as news articles, transcripts, scientific journals, public records and Web-based content.
  • Maritime Domain Awareness to allow analysts to identify links between cargo, containers, businesses, crews and vessels to enable risk assessment for effective interdiction and mitigation of threats before they reach U.S. shores.
  • All-source Analysis to enable intelligence analysts to enrich classified data sets with open sources of information for enhanced analysis and deeper contextual insight to detect and anticipate threats to national security.
“For the intelligence community to be successful, there is a clear need for scalable technology to assist in the effective management of the volume, velocity and variety of information,” said Norm Willox, CEO of LexisNexis Special Services Inc. “LexisNexis Intelligence Analysis Solutions respond to this crucial need by delivering commercially-proven technology that enables intelligence analysts to pinpoint information that will assist them to detect and deter threats to the nation.”

“The nature of the threat faced by the United States has required shifting from the Cold War paradigm that placed a high value on analysis of state actors and their military doctrine and plans to one that focuses on asymmetric threats posed by individuals who operate unconstrained by national borders and independent of state political apparatus,” said Dr. Bill Schneider, Chairman of the Defense Science Board.  “The open source and all-source analysis that LexisNexis Intelligence Analysis Solutions enable are critical to assisting analysts to detect signatures that can uncover the operational footprint of these individuals who pose threats to both the warfighter and the homeland.”

LexisNexis Intelligence Analysis Solutions can be delivered via secure access through the Web or deployed on-premise within a trusted enclave for use in an agency’s secure and classified environment by LexisNexis Special Services Inc., a company established to deliver LexisNexis solutions to customers with classified missions.
